In spring  2006, the Dutch computer manufacturer Tulip released the Ego (Link: Wayback Machine) - which cheekily copied and varied the iBook clamshell design.

Performance data: AMD Turion 64-bit CPU, 12.1 inch WXGA widescreen display 1280*800 pixels, 1GB RAM, 80GB hard disk, DVD+/-RW drive, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth included. Price:  around 4000 euros in the basic configuration.
