A Blueberry iBook is on display in the German Plastics Museum in Oberhausen in the virtual collection "Plastic Icons", which is also on tour as an exhibition. We learn that polycarbonate, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer (ABS) and thermoplastic elastomers are used.

In spring 2006, the Dutch computer manufacturer Tulip released the Ego (Link: Wayback Machine) - which cheekily copied and varied the iBook clamshell design.
Performance data: AMD Turion 64-bit CPU, 12.1 inch WXGA widescreen display 1280*800 pixels, 1GB RAM, 80GB hard disk, DVD+/-RW drive, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth included. Price: around 4000 euros in the basic configuration.

Starting in February 2000 websites like appleinsider and ZDnet seemed to be well informed about upcoming Apple products including iBooks, the Power Mac G4 and the Pro Mouse . The specs of the Second Edition Clamshells, which should be introduced in Paris in September 2000 were published in summer.
After some investigation it turned out that a young man who had a temporary job in the Quality Assurance at Apple named Juan Gutierrez was the one who sent emails to journalists signed with the pseudo "Worker bee".
